22st Festival della Castagna in Val Bregaglia

Colours, fragrances and flavours: these are the ingredients of the Festival della Castagna, which celebrates the variety of Bregaglia chestnuts with over 50 events.
The programme includes autumn walks through the chestnut groves, visits to traditional chestnut-drying houses, culinary tastings, cultural events and a wide range of activities for young and old alike.

Free collection area
The chestnut groves are privately owned. Chestnut gathering is permitted exclusively in the Brentan collection zone, above Castasegna. The collection zone offers everyone the opportunity to gather chestnuts for personal use (maximum 2 kg per person per day).

The book contains around forty recipes based on chestnuts, numerous photographs and interesting reports on chestnut cultivation in Bregaglia. The book was awarded the silver medal at the Swiss Gourmet Book Award 2026
